Project description

Dangerous right hand bend located in close proximity to the rear of the farm residence. Traffic using the road have insufficient stopping sight distance when negotiating bend and there have been a number of dangerous incidents involving farm animals and pedestrians moving from the residence to adjacent farm buildings.

Dangerous bend to be removed by realigning the road to the west of the farm buildings. 500 metres of new gravel road will be constructed.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
