Project description

This section of road is called the Poison Point Plain and is a strategic part of the Bourke to Milparinka Road. The gravel resheeting is eroded away over the years and needs replacing ASAP. As apart of the Village tour to Wanaaring this was one of the major priorities of concern to the rate payers as the road exists of black soil and is closed for long periods of time during heavy rains.

Gravel resheeing of the thirteen kilometre Plain with 200 millimetres depth of gravel at 8 metres wide to prevent road closure.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
