Project description

The rubble surface has worn out exposing the natural earth base. The earth base becomes soft causing boggy conditions and uneven surface. Vegetation has overgrown the road edges causing access issues for farming equipment traversing the road.

Trim back vegetation in accordance with approved Vegetation Management Guidelines. Three kilometres will then be re-sheeted with Limestone rubble to provide a hard trafficable road.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
