Project description

Duncan Street is no longer adequate for the volume of Residential traffic and community traffic to School. There are also 3 completed new homes and 3 homes under construction in new subdivided area. As the road is currently narrow, the road is getting lots of edge break. There is no control over the storm water at the moment, the stormwater is scouring the edge of the road, as have one steep hill.

Duncan Street will be fully reconstructed and widened to 10m from the existing 6 metres and Kerbed both sides to control storm water run off.

Total cost of proposed project is $400,000

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
