Project description

Severe rutting and cracking of asphalt surface. Surface undulation due to environmental movement and total subsurface failure. Various road patch due to potholes has deteriorated. Damaged kerb and gutter due to vehicle traffic and natural ground movement.

Full reconstruction of road including replacement of subsurface pavement. Replacement of kerb and gutter, driveway inverts and new pram ramps to comply with Australian standards.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
