Project description

This project involved the construction of a 1.5 kilometre southbound overtaking lane on the Calder Highway at Nowingi, north of Hattah in north west Victoria.

The project is expected to improve driver safety and travel times.

Funding

The Australian Government has committed $1,462,725 to this project.

Timetable

The project commenced construction on 14 April 2016 and practical completion was reached on 19 September 2016.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
