Project description

The proposed section of road has the following defects: - Crocodile Cracking; - Asphalt oxidisation; - Major Pavement repairs; - Potholes / pothole repairs; - Isolated Depressions; and - Crossfall / driveway issues.

Pavement Reconstruction - Full depth asphalt pavement. - Subsoil drainage replacement; - Profile out 255-355mm existing surface; and - Place 255mm asphalt.

Total cost of proposed project is $1,118,987

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
