Project description

The surface of Quia Road in the proposed work location is bitumen sealed and is badly deformed, which presents a traffic hazard for vehicles on the road. Furthermore, the surface is narrow in width, which is a traffic safety hazard for passing vehicles.

The proposed work involves increasing the width of the road pavement, overlaying the pavement with 100mm compacted road base material and bitumen sealing the surface of the road. Total length of the proposed work is 1.0km

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
