Project description

Road pavement is failing by potholing and rutting due to age of pavement and poor stormwater drainage capture resulting in water intrusion into the road base materials.

Reconstruction of road pavement and installation of additional stormwater drainage network and subsoil drainage alonside the sections of road to be reconstructed. Bus embaymnets in the road section will be resurfaced with brown asphalt reflecting the historical precinct of the Darlington townsite.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
