One of 20 projects delivered as part of the Australian Government's $508 million commitment to the Warrego Highway Upgrade Program.
The project involved the duplication of a 4km section of the Warrego Highway, from two to four lanes between Charlton and Kingsthorpe west of Toowoomba.
The project increased transport efficiency and productivity through improved travel times, reliability and safety on this section of the Warrego Highway.
This was achieved through the separation of opposing traffic streams, the improvement of intersections and the construction of turning lanes to provide safe turning opportunities.
The Australian Government provided $56.9 million to the project in partnership with the Queensland Government.
Construction commenced in January 2017 and was completed in March 2018.
