Project description

The project involved safety upgrades to improve sections of the New England Highway between Warwick and the Queensland/New South Wales border.

Safety treatments included:
• Pavement widening;
• Shoulder widening and sealing;
• Overtaking lanes;
• Intersection upgrades;
• Guardrails; and
• Improved delineation (line marking and signage).

Benefits

This project assisted in improving road safety, reducing the risk of fatalities and serious injuries as well as severity and cost of road crashes in line with the National Road Safety Strategy.

Funding

The Australian Government committed $8.994 million towards the project.

Timetable

The project commenced construction in early 2018 and completed construction in mid 2018.
