Project description

At 3.92 and 4.05 km there are two low level culvert/causeways that are very flood-prone, in poor structural condition, and only one lane wide. As this is a no-through road, residents beyond the culverts have their only road access frequently blocked by storm flows. The eastern culvert presents a barrier to fish passage in the stream. The flow of water is bypassing the culverts indicating that the structure has been undermined.

Replace the two culverts with two small concrete bridges that provide for two traffic lanes. The bridges will be at a higher level thus reducing flood frequency. The barrier to fish passage will be removed. The road approaches to the two new bridges will be made good to suit the new structures.

Total cost of proposed project is $962,650
