Project description

The bitumen road section consists of large cracks, loss of surface bitumen, edge failures, potholing and loose pavement surface. Road shoulders are non-existent. Ponding of water near the edge of the road. Driveways and front accesses are non-existent. Causeways have deteriorated. The gravel section has deteriorated to be non-existent.

Design and construct the road to a re-formed sealed road section including kerb and guttering, new formed gravel road section and drainage including kerb and guttering

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
