Project description

Construction required to facilitate traffic movements associated with the newly constructed School as well as the forecast increase in traffic movements generated from the adjoining future residential developments

Construction of a two lane rural road roundabout at the existing intersection including 340m total approach works in Ocean Drive and 260m approach works on Houston Mitchell Drive

Total cost of proposed project is $2,600,000

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
