Project description

This bus route has a high degree of cracking, poor transverse shape and surface irregularities leading to an uncomfortable ride for bus patrons and noise and vibration issues with adjacent residential properties.

The pavement will be lightly milled to reduce the affect of the surface irregularities. An asphalt corrector course will be applied to ensure good longitudinal grade and transverse shape. All edge kerbing will be removed and replaced and a final wearing surface of Stone Mastic Asphalt applied.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
