Project description

This new road design is required to provide an all weather access and civil design strategy to link into the supermarket and nursing home development. Current access is of a narrow sealed road, with deep shoulder deterioration, pot holes and substandard drainage.

Undertake a design for future Roads to Recovery upgrade works in the following financial year (2016/17). Design brief to include underground drainage, Kerb and channel and pavement widening for this strategic future collector road.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
