Project description

The project therefore seeks to upgrade the road pavement to a suitable standard for the current use and in anticipation of the increasing traffic that would result from the major changes envisaged for the area. The project would also look at providing improved management of Stormwater via extended underground drainage and the construction of bio filtration rain gardens

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
