Project description

The precast concrete kerbs segments are deteriorating, displaced, and have sunk reducing the kerb height. The road is notably cracked and the surface has oxidised.

It is proposed to remove and replace the segmented kerbing with cast in place kerb and gutter, and to replace the side entry pits to better collect the stormwater. Resurfacing is programmed to follow the kerb replacement project.

Total cost of proposed project is $236,643

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
