Project description

This road includes the busy main street in Jamieson. The section addressed in this project is the only unsealed section of this road. The road, at its southern end, provides access to a popular park fronting the Jamieson River. This park is frequently visited by tourists. Sealing this section will provide a higher level of service, reduce continual maintenance, and lessen the impact of dust on the adjacent residents.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
