Project description

Old pavement and seal has failed showing pavement rutting and shoving with significant patching, which requires high maintenance resources.

Reconstruction of pavement and seal for a length of approximately 200 metres with a variable width of 11 to 17 metres including removal and replacement of unsuitable subgrade and installation of kerbing for delineation of parking and tree areas.

Total cost of proposed project is $434,000

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
