Project description

Road is currently unsealed and needs improvement and upgrade to seal due to increase in traffic volumes due to its proximity to the Avalon Airport

Road requires upgrading with conversion to sealed pavement. Rehabilitation of existing unsealed pavement will include cement stabilisation of existing 200 millimetre pavement and 100 millimetres of imported base course crushed rock to be added. A 10mm spray seal will be applied to the newly rehabilitated pavement

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
