Project description

This section of the street has inadequate storm water drainage, rough and uneven surface and failed kerb & guttering.

Reconstruction of failed pavement and replacement of kerb & guttering. Length of kerb & gutter to be replaced 300 metres. Length of road to be upgraded 0.00km to 0.260km (at Kingdon St) to 0.260km (at Kelly St). Width of road to be upgraded 12 metres (0.00km-0.13km) and 6 metres (0.13km-0.26km). Total area 2350m2.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
