Project description

Road surface is bitumen and needs resealing. the bitumen surface is undulating, cracking and pot holes occur frequently due to the age of the bitumen surface. In addition the west side of road requires installation of kerb to channel drainage off road into storm water drainage system. At present west side has a grass verge that prevents water run off into the underground drainage system

Resurface 7m road surface with a slurry seal, install kerb to west side of road and backfill

Total cost of proposed project is $272,780

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
