Project description

The proposed section has the following defects: moderate crocodile cracking, heavy patching, ravelling, oxidation and weathering due to the age of the existing surface. The surface of the road has moderate failures (for example, potholes and patches).

Asphalt Resurfacing: Profile edges to key-in with the concrete kerb and channel; Waterproofing and crack alleviation bitumen sprayed seal; 50mm thick Dense Graded Asphalt Overlay (using size 14mm nominal aggregate).

Total cost of proposed project is $317,325

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
