Project description

Upgrade of Erskine Park Road & Coonawarra Drive Intersection.

Benefits

The project is expected to:

Enhance the regional road link between the new Airport and Regional Centre of Penrith
Enhance the regional road link between the new Airport at Badgerys Creek and M4 Motorway
Improved traffic flow
Reduce or eliminate the number of crashes
Improve the efficiency of signalised intersections by increasing right turn and left turn capacity and widening intersection approaches
Manage congestion and reducing delays to all traffic modes including to heavy vehicles
Increase amenity for local residents with better traffic flow, enhanced safety and better access between residential precincts and the arterial road network

Funding

The Australian Government is contributing up to $6.9 million towards the project.

Timetable

Construction commenced in November 2018 and was completed in June 2021.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
