Project description

The project involves improvements to the Murray Basin rail network in northwest Victoria aimed at addressing key operational issues and optimising the standard and broad-gauge lines.

Benefits

This project will deliver key benefits for primary producers and freight operators including increased capacity, improved reliability and resilience, reduced journey times and reduced the need for heavy vehicle freight movements on our highways and arterial road networks.

Funding

The Australian Government is contributing $408,116,000.00 towards a Total Project Cost of $645,720,000.00.

Timetable

Construction commenced in February 2015 and is expected to be complete by the end of 2026.
