Project description

Road pavement cracking and depressions. Asset has reached the end of its life in this section of road. Joint works being conducted with Nillumbik Shire Council.

Repair road pavement by removing damaged pavement, stabilise pavement layers, laying replacement asphalt, then apply an asphalt wearing course and replace line-marking. Excavate and strengthen shoulders, and re-grade table drain to ensure water flows to stormwater pits.

Total cost of proposed project is $308,281

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
