Project description

Sub base failure has caused the seal to fail. Which is causing a road safety issue because of rutting of road and potholes. This section of road also runs alongside a recreation oval and has no roadside parking bays which is also causing road safety issues.

Install below ground drainage on eastern side of road. Cement stabilise to a depth of 200mm and seal with asphalt. Install road side parking bays, seal and paint in bays. Due to installing the parking bays it will require the removal of the concrete footpath and the installation a new concrete footpath along the new parking bays.

Total cost of proposed project is $193,933

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
