Project description

Surface rusting of both girders, columns, crosshead and cross bracings. Seven planks weathered and damaged due to traffic. No guard fence. South batter eroded. Potholing at southern approach possibly due to wear and settlement.

Carry our Risk assessment to determine if guard rail required. If required undertake design and works. Repaint of both girders, columns, crosshead and cross bracings. Make good any settlement at southern approach and repair potholing. Reapply eroded south side batter. Remove trees on both sides.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
