Project description

Road surface is in poor condition. Issues with pedestrian safety, particularly at the Westgarth Street intersection. Street drainage is adversely affected by the lack of fall along the length of the street.

Rehabilitation of road including reconstruction of road pavement, resurfacing and construction of mid-block island and entry threshold treatment along with associated drainage works/improvements.

Total cost of proposed project is $427,175

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
