Project description

The proposed section has the following defects: major shoving and cracking withon the shoulders of the road, extensive patching and potholes along the length of the road, old, oxidised surface. Both the pavement structure and surface have major failures.

Pavement rehabilitation consisting of in situ stabilisation of the existing pavement materials, with a new sprayed seal surfacing.

Total cost of proposed project is $391,471

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
