Project description

The proposed section has the following defects: significant crocodile cracking, large depressions, potholes. The existing asphalt surface is old and oxidised. There are moderate failures in both the surface and pavement structure.

Pavement rehabilition consisting of in situ stabilising the existing pavement or a full depth reconstruction of the road pavement. Either treatments has a size 14mm 50mm thick dense graded asphalt surface.

Total cost of proposed project is $348,496

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
