Project description

A level two structure inspection report rated the condition of the bridge CS4, meaning the structure is in an unsafe condition. Based on the reports received the bridge has been scheduled to be refurbished

Based on the recomended maintainence actions made in the most recent Level 2 bridge inspection report, the bridge will be refurbished with a number of components to be strengthed or replaced. Components to be strengthed or replaced include kerb, headstock, girders, corbels, and piers. Safety improvements will also be made to signage and guardrail.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
