Project description

Continental Road is a local road, serving residential properties with some traffic from nearby school. The road and associated infrastructure was constructed in 1983 and is at the end of its useful service life. The road pavement is in need of reconstruction. New road surfacing is required and kerb & channel and footpaths need to be replaced.

Excavation and replacement of the road pavement and new road surfacing. Replace kerb & channel, footpaths and driveways in the area of works.

Total cost of proposed project is $577,920

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
