Project description

Lack of gravel on road surface with sand blowouts protruding through in several places, lack of drainage to sides of road and through low point, delineation and signage to be up graded and replaced, remove and control vegetation where required

Vegetation removals cut new drains and of shoots to each side of road and through low point, import gravel spread, grade and compact to cover existing road problems, install all signage to meet Main Roads specifications.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
