Project description

The existing road pavement is in poor condition with numerous surface defects, cracking and pavement failures. A lack of drainage around the road perimeter and cracked surfaces is allowing ingress of moisture and accelerated deterioration.

Rehabilitation through the excavation and removal of existing pavement and the application of a new sealed asphalt surface. Construct concrete flushing kerb to both sides of road and drainage on Southern end.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
