Project description

National Park Road is a Regionally Significant road formed from natural sandy material and imported gravel. The road has a high percentage of heavy vehicles especially during harvest periods as there is a private weigh bridge adjacent to this section of road. In dry periods the pavement breaks up and forms loose sandy bog holes with deep lateral rutting. In the wet periods it becomes very slippery and boggy.

We intend to use the material that is on site to reform the road. Grader will be used to reshape the road formation to a width of 7 metres, then we will use Councils Road Stabilizer (Pulvie) to mix the top 200mm of existing pavement and at the same time adding 1% (4kgs per m2) hydrated lime to the mix. When the stabilization of the pavement material is completed the grader will reshape the pavement in 100mm layers to ensure maximum compaction. Re-establish table and mitre drains and erosion control where necessary.
