Project description

Currently there is a service road as well as the main thoroughfare of Burdekin Street, both enter/exit to Hackett Terrace, the Highway running through Charters Towers. This causes a traffic hazard and confusion to motorists. In addition there is a tyre shop on the corner with haphazard parking and traffic movements. The unsealed shoulders on the service road add dust/drainage hazards to the mix.

It is proposed to close the entry/exit of the service road onto Hackett Hackett Terrace and seal the shoulders. Concrete traffic islands will be constructed to control the flow of traffic into Burdekin Street and linemarking will delineate parking bays.
