Project description

Existing gravel surface has lost its original shape and hold water when wet. Large potholes have developed and constant maintenance requires. The section of the road has poor drainage on the south side of the road fronting the properties.

Rework existing gravel pavement lay and compact 100mm layer of DGB20 pavement material. Table drain is to be regarded and replace existing drainage pipes with 300mm and 375mm pipes. Spray 10mm primer seal. Line marking and erection of roadside furniture.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
