Project description

The upgrade the road is to improve the drainage by directing the flow of water down the road to eliminate road surface damage and the residents properties flooding.

Construct upright kerbing both sides from Glacier Street to Turenne Street, and on north side to Flinders Esplanade. Construct and seal pavement full length and install side entry pit and 70 meters of pipework and form side drain from Glacier Road intersection through to Anzac Street.

Total cost of proposed project is $145,000

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
