Project description

This is the end of a sealed section of road heading towards Fords Bridge. This section of road leads into a bend in the road that is continually corregated and hazardous to traffic.

Extension of 1 kilometre of road towards Fords Bridge to seal the corregtaed bend. The construction will consist of formation and shaping of 1 kilometre of road at 10 metre width, importing and compacting 200 millimetres of gravel at 8 metres wide, and sealing with a double coat of 14 millimetre and 7 millimetre aggregate with C240 Bitumen at 7 metres wide.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
