Project description

Road surface is deformed, rough, irregular in shape and of poor presentation. The current surface levels do not cater for adequate drainage.

Install new kerb and gutter. Extension of the piped drainage system as required. Rip and rework existing road pavement. Suitable material retrieved from the reworking the road will be used to for the sub-base of the shoulder pavement. Lay 100mm DGB20 roadbase material over full width of the road formation. Spray 7mm primer seal. Line marking and erection of roadside furniture.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
