Project description

Due to the road aligment, carriageway width and slope on Pindari Road, it is impossible for CFA fire fighting tankers to turn into Pindari Road, from Buttermans Track when approaching from the east. It is also impossible to turn from Pindari Road, right into Buttermans Track for the same reason.

Realign the approach to the intersection in Pindari Road, extension of cross road culverts to increase road width at intersection and increasing the width of Buttermans Track to accommodate turning movements.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
