Project description

To continue the seal of the road as when the road has had 15 mililitres of rain it is unable to be used due to the road being black soil and gravel. The proposed works will allow cattle transport and station owners to have access to the road during the wet season. This will also reduce the maintenance costs for Council.

Supply and place gravel pavement 6 metres wide and two coat bitumen seal 4 metres wide for 4.5 kilometres.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
