Project description

Increased traffic volumes due to new development and the relocation of a school to the road. Additional parking and road widening is required in order to make this part of Faunce Street safe for motorists and pedestrians.

Reconstruct the road over 170 metres length and average 8.0 metres wide. Kerb and gutter both sides. Right-angle parking on the southern side. Substantial driveway adjustments and utility relocations. Retaining wall, stormwater drainage, footpath (northern side)

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
