Project description

Current road width varies between 6.5-7.0 m which is narrow and sides are full of overgrown vegetation causes visibiity problems for traffic . Shoulders are in a poor state of repair posing risk to vehicles especially at horizontal curves. Batters need improvement to comply with standards. The road is used by heavy vehicles and in its current state poses risk to traffic.

Existing carriage way and shoulders to be widened up to 9 m of total width. New traffic lanes to be 3.25 m wide with 1.25 m shoulder on each side half m sealed giving a total of giving a total of 7.5 sealed pavement. Shoulders to be built 300 mm thick DGB20 to comply with RMS specifications 3051. DGB 20 to be compacted to a density of up to 102% at 70-80% OMC. Vegetation clearance for improved sight distence and adequate visiblity especially at bends.
