Project description

The existing section required new kerb and gutter with new pavement surface. Residents have been complaining for flooding and drainage problems due to water coming of the road surface which a 18.4 wide pavement.

A new geometrical design has been prepared 8m two lane carriageway plus 5.2 wide parking area along the 630 m long section. 900 m of new kerb and gutter with 5 new pits and 110 m long pipe network to cater for the currently poor drainage facilities.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
