Project description

The project upgraded nine sections of the Mount Dandenong Tourist Road between Montrose and Upper Ferntree Gully, east of Melbourne.  The identified sections were prioritised based on high risk areas for cyclists, and the scope of works includes shoulder construction and sealing, provision of indented bus bays, and erection of guard rails and retention walls.

Benefits

The project has improved safety for cyclists and motorists through better overtaking opportunities and reduced road congestion.

Funding

The Australian Government fully funded this $10 million project.

Timetable

Construction on the project commenced in September 2021 and was completed in May 2022.
