Project description

The existing causeway crossing over the Tate River requires significant repair work, is too low and is regularly overtopped by flood waters, which creates a severe safety hazard during the wet season for motorists. During flood events local residents become stranded because flood waters overtop the existing causeway.

The proposal is to remove the existing low level causeway and replace with a 4.50m wide one lane concrete causeway which will provide a safer high level crossing over the Tate River.

Total cost of proposed project is $1,576,164
