Project description

Winfield Road is a rural road servicing the coastal villages of Colonial Cove, Baffle Estate and Winfield itself. Traffic is a mix of tourist, residential and agricultural vehicles. Most of the 12 kms from Rosedale Road to Rocky Point Road is a two lane bitumen road. but there remains 4 single lane sections totalling 3.6 kms which pose a safety hazard for the high speed traffic because of the edge drop off and potholes in the shoulders.

Excavate and replace road shoulders, add additional gravel pavement, cement stabilise full width pavement and bitumen seal to 6m width.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
